What better way to spend a Saturday evening than a fun time at the Sede with our fellow members to celebrate "Dia de Sao Joao" (St. John the Baptist Feast Day)! It's a time when traditionally, the Macanese get together with their family and friends. So join us and not miss out on this important celebration.
Our Casa has had countless number of highly successful Social Events at our Sede, during the past five years. They had different themes and a variety of "sabroso" foods. Our Casa's top chefs will, once again, be rolling up their sleeves and bringing out their pots and pans to prepare the food for this special upcoming event for the enjoyment of our Casa members and their guests.
When we lived in Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai and other places in the Far East, we were all very fortunate to have been introduced to all kinds of cuisines. In most households, our dinners were prepared with numerous kinds of spices. We had very hot and mild curries and balichao etc. and often soy sauce mixed with Worcestershire sauce would be used in the same dish and we just loved the flavour. Our palates will most certainly be pleased to enjoy this kind of food again.
At this "Fun and Fellowship Evening", our Social Committee will, once again, bring together the culinary delights provided at our earlier Casa's parties, so much enjoyed by our members and their friends. Of course, there will be many Macanese favourites. Nothing fancy, just an evening of fun and delicious, mouth-watering and popular main dishes and irresistible desserts, that will entice you to go for more than one helping and of course there will be Hong Kong tea, regular tea, coffee and pop too.
After dinner, relax and socialize with your fellow members, family and friends, do some line dancing or ballroom dancing to work off the calories or join in with the karaoke singers. If you are musically inclined, bring your guitar, clarinet, keyboard or even a harmonica etc. Show your talents to your friends. Participation by our members always do contribute to the success of any of our Casa events. So please don't be shy- eat, dance, sing and be merry! Make new friends!

There will be a presentation about the Portuguese Culture at Casa de Macau to be given by a Professor from the University of Berkeley in California
There will also be an exhibition to be put on by the Instituto Camões, Toronto about the Portuguese writer Fernão Mendes Pinto, who wrote about his voyages in Asia in the 16th century and his contacts with the different people in those times.

The 2013 Macau Encontro is over and the excitement of parties and family commitments at Christmas and New Year are behind us. We can look forward to celebrating the Chinese New Year which will be coming up shortly.
It is now time and another reason for our members for having a party at our Sede and why not? Many of us are party animals, aren't we? We can get together and be prepared to trot or gallop into this Lunar Year of the Horse, by gathering at the Sede to meet with our fellow members and greet each other with "Sun Neen Fai Lok" or if you prefer "Kung Hay Fat Choy".
There will be loads of Chinese food such as Buddhist Feast, Deep Fried Prawns, Roast Pork, BBQ Duck, Vegetables, Noodles, Ngau Mei Rice etc. etc. Of course there will be Macanese food too, such as Feijoada, Porco Bafassa, Galinha, Minchi, Bolo Bacalhau, a pot of hot curry etc. etc. Lots of sweet temptations as well that you can indulge in, even after a full meal. We always try to accommodate our members' varied taste buds when it comes to food and desserts and we will try our best not to disappoint them. Regular tea, coffee, pop and Lyce's H. K. Ngai Cha will also be provided.
Ate too much, well do a dance number or two to work off the excess calories, then sing your heart out when the karaoke is on. Hang loose and start off the lunar year right! Have fun!

"Outono Festa de Comida" (Fall Food Fest)

Summer is over and we are itching to get together again with our fellow Casa members and friends. We had our barbecues at home all summer and even one at the Sede. It's time for a change. It's cooler outside now, so jog to the Sede for a Fall Food Fest evening of fun. Come and simply have a great time!
Some of us from Hong Kong may remember crossing the harbour on the Star Ferry, then hailing the first available taxi or "pak pai chai" to rush home after work for dinner. We could hardly wait to eat what was prepared for us. Sometimes just when a favourite dish was being served, a certain relative or friend would just happen to drop by at dinner time. Uncanny? Well, there went our second helping..... aai ya!!!
Our Casa chefs will once again be bringing out their pots and pans to give our members the opportunity to feast on good home cooked Macanese food as well as other dishes, therefore, here is your chance to enjoy an outstanding meal and you can have that second helping and more! There will be Arroz Forgada, Diabo, Capela, Bafassa Galinha, Armonica, Vaca Estofada, Camarao Picante, Caril, Bolo Bacalhau, Peche, Verdura, Salada, Portuguesa Paozinho and more "sabroso" dishes. What's a meal without desserts, so indulge in bolo chocolate, pudim doce, natas, croqueiras, jellos etc. etc. Quench your thirst with coffee, regular tea, H.K. tea and pop.
Just sit back and relax, but if you have restless feet and just can't sit still, then get up and do a dance or two. Dazzle and surprise us! Do a rumba, cha cha or jive away if you wish. Later in the evening, there will be karaoke and you can sing to your heart's content. The thing is to socialize with your fellow members. Eat, dance and be merry! That is what club life is all about, hey?

It's summer and stifling hot !!! Stop fanning yourself ! Come and join us at our Sede for some fun with your fellow members and cool off with a cool drink from our fruit punch bowl! Socialize with your fellow members, make new friends and catch up on the news while you are there, as Lyce and the rest of the Social Committee get the food ready.
There will be rice pilaf, bifi Macau, bacalhau assada, porco balichao tamarinho, camarao, galinha, caril, shepherd's pie, ribs, roulette, minchi, verdura, noodles, Portuguese buns etc. etc. Oh yes, there will also be an ice-cream bar and you can choose from a variety of toppings. Want to truly indulge, then make it a banana split !!!!! Not an ice-cream person, no problem, there will also be lemon squares, natas, assorted cakes, jellos and puddings to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings. Help yourself all evening with lemon tea, pop, Hong Kong tea, regular tea and coffee. Enjoy!!!
Wonderful music will fill the air at our Sede as you enjoy all the delicious home cooked Macanese and other kinds of food amidst great company. If you want to work off some of the calories, then do a ballroom dance or line dance number and show us the great moves you have. Later, there will also be karaoke, so don't be shy, simply step up to the mic and sing your heart out. We could have a star in our midst and not know it!!!
Don't know how to dance, but you enjoy singing instead, no problem. Just sing along when the karaoke is on and do your own thing. The singers can sing their hearts out and the dancers can dance till they drop !! Just hang loose and have fun.
